O’Hare Airport Car Service

O’Hare is one of the busiest airports in the world and a major hub for both United and American. It has four terminals spread across a large site northwest of the city, with the Kennedy Expressway (I-90) and I-190 as the main ways out. Knowing exactly where a pre-arranged car is allowed to load saves real time, especially in winter.

Luxury Ride Pro chauffeurs meet O’Hare arrivals in baggage claim and drive to the Loop, River North, the North Shore, Oak Brook, Schaumburg and Rosemont. The Chicago Department of Aviation publishes clear livery rules, summarized below with links to the official pages.

Pickup rules last checked against the official airport website on October 18, 2026

O’Hare Terminals

  • Terminal 1

United's main terminal and some partner airlines.

  • Terminal 2

Domestic flights for several airlines. Hotel and off-airport parking shuttles now pick up at the Terminal 2 arrivals curb.

  • Terminal 3

American Airlines and partners, with domestic flights for other carriers.

  • Terminal 5

The international terminal for most non-U.S. airlines, with customs and immigration on site.

How Pickup Works at O’Hare

From the Chicago Department of Aviation's O’Hare taxi, limo and rideshare page:

  • Pre-arranged limousine passengers should call their company once they have claimed their luggage. The company gives the plate number, a description of the car and/or a door number.
  • “Liveries can only meet passengers at designated areas on the lower level center lane (lane 2).” Depending on airport traffic, the vehicle can take 5 to 20 minutes to reach the designated pickup spot.
  • Limousine drivers may meet passengers in Baggage Claim and walk them to the vehicle. O’Hare has designated livery parking directly across from each terminal, typically a 5 to 7 minute walk.
  • Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) uses the upper level at Terminals 2 (zones 2A–2G, orange signs) and 3 (zones 3G, 3H, 3J, 3K, green signs). Black car pickups stay on the lower level of all terminals.
  • Curbside waiting is prohibited. Unattended vehicles are ticketed and towed. The free Cell Phone Lot is at 560 N. Bessie Coleman Drive.

Meet & Greet: How Your Chauffeur Finds You

  1. 1We track your flight from takeoff and adjust the pickup to your real arrival time.
  2. 2For a baggage claim meet, your chauffeur parks in the designated livery parking across from your terminal and meets you at the carousel with a digital name sign. International passengers at Terminal 5 are met outside the customs exit.
  3. 3With your bags collected, you walk together to the car, typically 5 to 7 minutes according to the airport.
  4. 4If you prefer curbside pickup, text the chauffeur when you have your bags and meet at the lower level center lane (lane 2) at the door number they send.

Flight Tracking & Free Wait Time

Our dispatch team uses real-time flight tracking software and automatically adjusts your chauffeur's arrival time for early arrivals or delays, with free wait on delayed flights. Terminal 5 international arrivals include extra free wait time, because customs processing there can take a while when several long-haul flights land together.

From O’Hare Into the City and the Suburbs

Most downtown trips use I-190 to the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94). The Kennedy has reversible express lanes that can help or hurt depending on direction and time of day. For the North Shore we often take I-294 north or local roads through Park Ridge. For the western suburbs (Oak Brook, Naperville) we use I-294 south and I-88. Schaumburg is a short run west on I-90.

Convention and business travel shapes a lot of O’Hare work. The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont is minutes from the terminals, and McCormick Place on the Near South Side is about an hour away in traffic. We schedule Sprinters and hourly sedans for exhibitor teams going to either.

Winter at O’Hare

Chicago winters affect every part of an airport pickup: de-icing delays, diverted flights and slow expressways after snow. We track the flight through all of it, keep the vehicle warm, and recommend an SUV from November to March for traction and luggage space.

Vehicles for O’Hare Transfers

From November to March we recommend an SUV (Suburban or Escalade) for luggage and snow. Sedans work for most solo business trips, and Sprinters move convention teams heading for McCormick Place or Rosemont.

O’Hare Tips From Our Dispatch Team

  • Meeting at the carousel avoids lane 2 congestion at peak times, and the 5 to 7 minute walk to livery parking is usually faster than waiting for a car to loop around.
  • Rosemont's convention center and hotels are next to O’Hare. Short hops there are quick even at rush hour.
  • In winter, allow extra time for de-icing delays on departures. Your chauffeur adjusts to arrival changes automatically.
  • If you are connecting to Midway, plan at least an hour of driving between the two airports.
